Valentine’s Weekend

This past weekend we went up to Gowrie so that we could have one last family get together for Christmas with Brad’s Aunt and Uncle and their family.  We usually have it a little closer around Christmas, but with five of us being nurses and having to work weekends and us being pregnant, it was hard to find something that worked for all of us.  Kris thought she had it all planned out so that everyone would be able to come, but it goes to show that things just don’t work out sometimes.  Andy and Mindy came up on Saturday morning, but ended up leaving that afternoon because Brady passed on the flu to his father and they didn’t want anyone else to get sick, so they weren’t able to eat with us.  Brad’s cousin Mindy and her family of four also stayed home because on Friday, her three year old ended up having her tonsils and adenoids out and she didn’t feel up to coming.  Brad’s cousin Brock and his fiance also couldn’t make it.  So we ended up missing half of the group.  We still had fun with Tom and Sandi and his cousin Kim and her family.  Jaxson loved playing with the three older kids as they were great with him and they all had fun playing hide and seek.  Earlier that afternoon we took Jaxson skating again at the Gowrie skating rink.  He did a little better this time and I was even able to make a few loops around the rink. . . without falling I might add 🙂  We had a lot of fun.  Later Saturday night, Brad’s friends Jen and Tanner stopped by to visit and see Holden.  It was great seeing them and visiting.  They are always a lot of fun.  On Sunday we went to church with Steve and Kris and got to listen to Papa sing in the choir.  We headed home after church since the weather was not great . . . AGAIN.  The roads were snow/ice covered and in parts there was a lot of blowing snow.  It took us a little longer to get home, which was fine because the boys got an extra long nap that way.  This week we are just hanging out and doing our usual things.  Brad did take me out for a nice supper tonight at Centro for Valentine’s Day.  The food was awesome!  We then headed to Costco to get some groceries and then home to the kiddos who got to spend the evening with Grandma Kris.  I head back to work on Saturday night and am really looking forward to it.  I miss my co-workers, being out among adults and using my brain a little more than what I do at home 🙂

This is the easy way to do it.

Jaxson got a new cash register and now loves to play Target and library.

This is what a weekend with Papa and Nana will do to a kid.

So much for the neck pillow doing it’s job.  Don’t buy one, it didn’t work.
