Jaxson’s Prayer

This was Jaxson’s prayer tonight at bedtime. . .

"Thank you for the moon and the sun.  Thank you for Mommy, Daddy, Jaxson, and Holden.  Thank you for my Grandpas and Grandmas.  Thank you for going to Sunday School.  Thank you for going to the zoo.  Thank you for going to Kade’s house and McDonald’s.  Thank you for going to church.  Amen"

It warmed my heart to hear him come up with this prayer all by himself.  Now don’t get me wrong, Brad and I were trying to quietly control our laughter because it was so stinkin’ cute as he folds his hands and squeezes his eyes shut so tight.  I know that Jesus loved it just as much as we did, if not more. 🙂

The Corn Crib

I got a call this evening from my mom who told me that my brother’s corn crib was on fire out at the farm that I grew up on.  It turns out that they were burning some trash on the farm and some ashes got carried by the wind and started the corn crib on fire.  The area where they burn trash is quite a ways from the corn crib, but I guess with the wind just right, it carried it right to the corn crib.  Brandon said by the time the fire department got there, which was only 10 minutes, it was already burnt to the ground, but still very hot.  Brandon was more worried about his house and the barn, so he ran up to the house and got a garden hose and sprayed down himself and then started spraying down the house.  Despite his efforts, the siding, which is all new within the last couple of years, on the east side of the house is all melted, along with some shingles, but it’s still standing 🙂  When the fire department got there, Brandon had them spray down the barn, which is also fine.  Brandon thinks the corn crib is around 70 years old, so it wasn’t in the best of shape, but it did have some of his fence-building materials in it, which is all gone.  I talked to him tonight and he was sitting outside watching it burn still and he realized that with the corn crib gone, he has a pretty nice view to the east 🙂

4 Month Check Up

Holden had his 4 month check up on Friday.  He weighed in at 13 lbs 13 oz (30th %) and was 24 1/2 in. long (30th %).  He’s still our little peanut.  Dr. Williams said that he is fabulous and very impressed with how strong he is, just like Jaxson was.

Jaxson is doing his own little exam on Holden.  He checked his blood pressure, looked in his mouth and took his temp.  He got a clean bill of health from Dr. Cathcart.

First Food

Holden started eating rice cereal last week and he loves it!

Patiently waiting

1st bite

I’m not too sure about this.

I like it!

He gobbled up all of it.

5 Rowdie Boys

Jack, Jaxson, Holden, Benjamin, and Gavin

These are the boys that we usually play with on a daily basis.  It is so great to have such great friends and neighbors just a few houses down from us.  It’s not unusual for us to be at the Case Haub house a few hours everyday.  We are even at the point that Jaxson rides his bike down to their house on his own and let’s himself in.  It’s usually without us knowing and we are working on the whole knocking before entering thing.  I don’t know what I would do if we didn’t have them in our neighborhood.  Now don’t get me wrong, Jack and Jaxson are like brothers because they can play so well together but they can also have some knock down drag out fights too, but I know that if you asked both of them who their best friend is, they would say each other.  Now we’ll see if these two are just as good of buddies as the older two.

Holden’s Baptism

Sunday was a very special day for us.  Not only was it Mother’s Day, but also Holden’s baptism.  We were so blessed to have all of our family here to celebrate with us.  We all went to church together and Pastor Mike gave a very appropriate sermon on what the Bible says about parenting.  It was a good refresher to hear and very appropriate for Mother’s Day.  After church we all headed to the chapel for the baptism.  Holden had Heath, Tanya, Andy, Mindy, and Brandon as his sponsors.  He is so lucky to have so many people that love him so much.  He did very well when it was his turn.  The funniest part was right after he had the water poured on him and Jaxson puts his arms up and says "Yay, Holden is bastized!"  He was so excited and it was so adorable.  After the baptism, we came back to our house and Brad grilled us some yummy burgers and chicken and we enjoyed some cake from Costco.  It was a fabulous day and Holden would like to thank all of his family for their love, support, and presents 🙂

Holden is all ready for his big day.

His big moment.

A Shower And Some Fun Pics

This last Saturday Holden and I headed up to Callender, IA to attend a bridal shower for Brad’s cousin, Laura.  Laura and Adam are getting married in June and Jaxson is their ring bearer.  Kris and some other ladies put on a beautiful shower for her.

Holden’s first time meeting Laura.

Here’s some other random pictures:

Our smiley little peanut 🙂

He is such a good helper.
