Firecracker 40

The Firecracker 40 is a 40 mile bike ride during the 4th of July in the Gowrie area.  Brad has done the bike ride several times, but I’ve never been able to do it because I usually work on the weekend that it’s held, but I was able to participate this last weekend.  Brad and I left with several of his friends from Gowrie around 9:30 on Saturday morning.  We then rode to Farnhamville and took a little break at the local bar.  We then headed toward Slifer where we stopped at this family farm who always play host to the bikers.  They had a sand volleyball court and other various outdoor games that you could play.  They also grilled up some hotdogs for us.  It was quite the resting spot.  From there we then headed to Callender and took a break at the city park where they were having karaoke, food, and a dunk tank.  It was then on to Moorland, where we took a brief break at the bar before heading back to Gowrie for a pork loin supper.  We had a great time and I’m proud to say that we did the whole thing.  We expected to be quite sore on Sunday, but we were pleasantly surprised that we could still walk and the only thing that was really sore was our butts 🙂

We are ready to take off.  A certain little dude thought that he was going to be able to go with us in his jammies 😦  I think we will probably let him do the first leg of the ride next year!

Our stop in Slifer at a family farm.
