In The Zone

Seven friends and I are still doing our monthly meal swap.  It came down to crunch time this month with making my meals.  I usually like to coordinate making my meals with my one weekend off a month.  If it doesn’t work out that way then I usually try to get them done on a Sat. morning when Brad is home; however, with the Hawkeye games now, ummm that’s pretty hard to do.  So I did my meals on Friday (Meal Swap was Mon.) with both kids home with me.  I’ll just say that they got made, they turned out yummy, but I was just a LITTLE frazzled when I was finally done.

My kitchen gets trashed in the process.

The final product. . Zesty Chicken Tortilla Bake

Pedicure Night With The Girls!

This last Tuesday, most of us meal swap girls all went out and got pedicures.  The staff at Helen’s Nails had to bring out a three-tiered cart to hold all of the food and wine that we brought emoticon.  We had a blast and what perfect timing before the wedding.

Jeriann, Brandy, Gina, and Crystal

I couldn’t fit them all in one shot, so there is Erin on the end.

Ann and me

I’m 30. . . Whoopie Doo!

So I turned 30 this week emoticon.   It didn’t feel like a big deal to me because I have felt like I’ve been in my 30’s for a while now.  Brad’s been in his 30’s for a few years and so have most of my friends that I am with on a regular basis.  So it didn’t feel like any major change to me.  For my 30th, Brad asked me what I wanted.  I told him that it would be so nice if he could take the day off of work.  He thought that was so nice that I would want to spend my 30th birthday with him.  Well, then I broke the news to him that I just wanted him to take the day off so that he could watch the kids so that Tanya and I could go out for lunch and go shopping emoticon.   And that we did.  Our intention was to go shopping for dresses to wear to our brother’s wedding in a month.  Well, as the typical moms that we are.  We came home with our husband’s and kid’s outfits for the wedding and nothing for us.

Girls Night Out

Last night I got a girls night out . . . WOOT WOOT!!!  Crystal, Erin, and I took Brandy out for a night on the town.  We had to celebrate her finishing her dissertation in Anthropology, which she has been working on for a few years.  We had dinner and some yummy drinks at Dos Rios downtown, which was excellent.  We then headed to Johnny’s for another drink, but mostly to chat some more because it was way too early to go home.  We at least had to stay out late enough for the kids to be in bed when we got home.  It’s funny how times have changed. We were all yawning and tired by 9:00 pm and were all home by 10.

Soon to be Dr. Brandy Case Haub emoticon

2nd Annual Meal Swap Christmas

Our meal swap group went to Granite City last week for our 2nd annual Christmas outing.  We had a great time and enjoyed our kid-free meal 🙂

Girls Night Out & Other Misc. Pics

Last week some girls from my meal swap group had a girls night out.  We started out at the Cheesecake Factory for some appetizers and very yummy adult beverages.  We then went to a place in the mall and got pedicures for our much neglected feet. . . or I should say MY much neglected feet.  Pedicures aren’t my most favorite thing since I’m quite ticklish, but I got through it OK.

Here’s the girls:  Gina (the newest member of our meal swap group), Crystal, Ann, and Erin way in the back.

Here’s the misc. pics:
